2015 EPRHA Reining Thunder

September 24, 2015, Glouster County Dream Park, NJ – It is always exciting to show our three year olds for the first time and this was the weekend. Jerry Coleman rode Super Star Chic to the Santa Hill Ranch Futurity Open Level 2 reserve championship and placed third aboard Mr Mizzen Tag. Both horses are owned by Denise Santagata.

Congratulations to Mike Morganti showing KR Great Tejon to the Rookie 2 reserve championship. Tony Dickman also placed fourth in the Limited Open class aboard Shiners Whizard.

2015 Big Bob Classic

September 14, 2015 – Campbell Hall, NY – Fun was had by all at the annual Big Bob Classic, held at Santa Hill Ranch. Tony Dickman rode Shiners Whizard, owned by Denise Santagata, to a big score of 74 and won the Open and Limited Open classes. Jerry Coleman rode Itsa Last Wimpy, owned by Denise Santagata, to win the Novice Horse Open Level 2 win a score of 73.

2015 NERHA Super Slide In

August 20, 2015 – Springfield, MA – Congratulations to Denise Santagata and Itsa Last Wimpy on their Novice Horse Non Pro Level 1 co-championship. Tony Dickman, GRR Assistant Trainer, showing Shootin Reys owned by Denise Santagata, earned the Intermediate Open and Limited Open championships. Head Trainer Jerry Coleman rode Hoppys Gata Dolly, owned by Denise Santagata, to place second in both the Novice Horse Open Level 1 & 2 classes.

2015 Carolina Classic Derby

May 17, 2015 – Williamston, NC – The Carolina Classic Derby is always a fun event and the 2015 version was a great time! Jerry Coleman rode Itsa Last Wimpy for Denise Santagata to the Carolina Classic Open Derby Level 2 co-reserve championship with a score of 217.5. They also placed tied for third in the Open Level 3.

Gata Rein Assistant Trainer, Tony Dickman, had a great weekend showing Shootin Reys for Denise Santagata. He placed second in the Novice Horse Level 1 and earned third in the Limited Open class.

2014 EPRHA No Foolin Slide

March 29, 2014 – It was a cold and wet weekend at the Glouster County Dream Park, NJ, but a successful weekend. Jerry rode Walla Walla Smarts to a 144.5 on Friday to place second in the $1000 Novice Horse Open. They came back on Saturday to mark a big 148.5 to place second in the $2000 Open class. 2014 Florida Reining Classic

March 1, 2014 – Merlin brought home the checks one more time! With a score of 218.5, Jerry & Merlin placed third in the Level 2 & 4 7 & Up Class. This super gelding is fresh and ready to show and he just happens to be for sale! Check out our sale page for his video.



October 25, 2013 – Congratulations to Leonard Wiener on his purchase of the fancy 2010 mare, Slidinwiththebigchex, by Big Chex To Cash.


September 10, 2013 – We are excited to announce some recent horse sales. Long time friend and client, Carl Ernst, recently purchased Bonitas Dun Smoke from Denise. We are excited to have “Bo” in Carl’s care.

Also, congratulations to Tammye Hutton/Hilldale Farm (agent) on their purchase of Gunner On Ice. He has been a good show horse for us, but we are looking forward to Hilldale’s continued success with him.

The Super Slide In

August 22-25, 2013 – The Gata Rein Gang headed to W. Springfield, MA for the NERHA Super Slide In and everyone had a great time showing and earning pay checks. We wrapped up the weekend win Jerry winning the $1000 Novice Horse Open Level 2 and the $300 Novice Horse Open Level 1 aboard KR Cinch Up, owned by Denise Santagata. They marked at 73 for win.

The Pink Ribbon Reining

August 5, 2013 – The Gata Rein Ranch crew headed north to The Pink Ribbon Reining, Sorel, Quebec, Canada this past weekend and returned with some great results. Jerry and Gunner On Ice earned the Level 2 Open Derby championship and placed third in the level 4 with a score of 146.5. Shiners Whizard, AKA Merlin The Magnificient, claimed the 7 & Up Open reserve championship with a score of 145.5 and then came back on Sunday to earn the $2000 Open reserve championship with a score of 147. Both of these horses are proudly owned by Denise Santagata. Congratulations on a great show Jerry!

Merlin The Magnificent!

Jerry Coleman & Merlin (aka Shiners Whizard) have been having great success in the Open classes in the month of June. They started out by winning the $2000 Open at the CNYRHA Ride N Slide with a 147.5. They followed that up with another $2000 Open win just a week later at the EPRHA show with an incredible 153.5! Merlin The Magnificent (AKA Shiners Whizard)




It is with great pride that we congratulate Craig Sutter and his super mare, Steppin Up Wimpy, on their 2012 NRHA Prime Time Non Pro reserve world championship. Craig & “Jenna” have had a great show season and we have enjoyed supporting him in his quest for a world championship. Following her last show this fall, Jenna, has retired to the pasture and is looking forward to her future as a broodmare. Craig will be showing another Wimpys Little Step gelding next spring. Congratulations!

2012 EPRHA Firecracker Classic

July 13-15, 2012 – The EPRHA Firecracker Classis was another great show for Gata Rein Ranch. First, Natascha Aeuckens won her first NRHA reining with a win in the Green Reiner class on Saturday. Eric Unger & Michelle Johnson tied to win the Limited Non Pro on Saturday with a great score of 73. They also tied for second place in the Intermediate & Non Pro classes. Jenny Johnson earned a Limited Non Pro paycheck. Crai…g Sutter placed third in the Prime Time NP and Courtney Jones placed second in the Novice Horse NP.

Dominic Bianchi marked an impressive 147 to win the Firecracker Classic Non Pro Derby. On Sunday Michelle Johson tied to win the Non Pro class and won the Intemediate Non Pro & Limited Non Pro classes with a 74.5! Congratulations to everyone on a great weekend!

2012 NERHA Matt Sanborn Memorial Derby

June 16, 2012 – It was bronze trophy filled weekend for Craig Sutter and Steppin Up Wimpy (aka Jenna). This dynamic duo won the Non Pro Level 4, Level 2 & Prime Time Non Pro divisions of the derby as well as the OPEN Level 2 & 1 with a score of 144.5! In addition, the pretty palomino mare & Sutter also won the category 1 Prime Time Non Pro class on Friday with a score of 72 and then came back on Sunday to tie for second place.

Jerry Coleman rode Denise Santagata’s Leonard Tag to the Open Level 4 reserve championship with a score of 145. Jerry & Leonard also placed second in the Open class on Friday.

It was another successful weekend for the GRR crew!! Watch for them at a show near you!

2012 CNYRHA Ride And Slide

June 3, 2012 – The GRR crew had a great show at the CNYRHA Ride & Slide, Syracuse, NY this weekend. Jerry Coleman rode Denise’s Painted Te Ata Star to 2nd in the Novice Horse Open, Carrie Austin tied to win the Novice Horse NP, Craig Sutter and Steppin Up Wimpy placed 2nd in the INP & 3rd in the NP. Craig also rode his talented mare to a 3rd place finish in the derby. Denise rode Shiners Whizard (or Merlin the Magnificent as he is known) to place in her first ever Derby outing!!! Congratulations to everyone!!

2012 NERHA

May 21, 2012 – Congratulations to Craig Sutter & Steppin Up Wimpy on their accomplishments in Northampton, MA this weekend. Craig & his fancy mare won the Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro and the Prime Time Non Pro on Sunday with a 72.5. They also won the Saturday Prime Time Non Pro class, tied for third in the Non Pro & second in the Intermediate Non Pro. Nice job!


May 12, 2012 – Jerry Coleman and Denise Santagata’s Leonard Tag were Level 4 & 3 Open derby finalists. They had a great run in the finals and marked a 144.5 earning paychecks in both divisions.

2012 EPRHA

May 7, 2012 – Day #2 of the EPRHA show came to a close with lots more wins & pay checks. Bryan Penquite & Mysocksarechocolate were second in the Intermediate Open class. Michelle Johnson rode to the win in the Limited Non Pro class today & 2nd place in the Intermediate Non Pro. She also placed 2nd in the LNP yesterday. Craig Sutter was very consistent this weekend as he placed second in the Prime Time NP both days. Jen Johnson rode to 2nd place in the Novice Horse NP & 2nd in the LNP. Eric Unger placed 5th in the LNP and Carrie Austin was 3rd in the Prime Time NP. Congratulations & great job everyone!! We are headed to NC in a few days for the Carolina Classic. Watch for updates!

2012 EPRHA

April 1, 2012 – We got the 2012 show season off with a great start at the Glouster County Dream Park, Logan Township, NJ. Craig Sutter rode Steppin Up Wimpy to win his first two Prime Time Non Pro classes. Craig and his fancy palomino mare also finished second in the Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro and the Novice Horse Non Pro Level 2 over the weekend. Michelle Johnson rode Reeboks Kid to win the Limited Non Pro and Bryan Penquite rode Mysocksarechocolate to win the Intermediate Open on Saturday. Great job Team GRR!


December 8, 2011 – It’s official according to the NRHA website. Sue Kuryloski and Wranglerize are the 2011 NRHA Prime Time Non Pro World Champions!! Sue purchased this super gelding from Gata Rein Ranch on the advise of her trainer, NRHA Hall of Famer Rocky Dare. Sue and “Dell” competed primarily at EPRHA events this year but did some winning up and down the east coast as well. We are proud to say that Wranglerize was successfully shown by Jerry Coleman before he was purchased by Sue. We couldn’t be prouder of this duo!


Steppin Up Wimpy

Not only was the weather great in Columbus, OH, so were the horses. Gata Rein Ranch had a very successful show and came home with quite a bit of loot. Jerry started the show off right by placing Denise’s Shiners Whizard third in the Novice Horse Open class. Then he came back in the AQHA Junior Reining aboard Craig Sutter’s Steppin Up Wimpy to another third place. Jerry and Shiners Whizard came back on Saturday to place fifth in a very deep Open class with a 220. Courtney Jones & Ima Little Spooky placed in the Novice Horse Non Pro top ten and then finished fifth in the AQHA Novice Amateur reining class.


Mysocksarechocolate, owned by Denise and ridden by Jerry, qualified for the Intermediate Open futurity finals and placed fifth in a very deep finals. Congratulations to everyone!


Oh Yes Oh Jay

September 19, 2011 – Congratulations to Tom Yovino & Sue Lomangino on their purchase of Oh Yes Oh Jay from Gata Rein Ranch. We have loved owning this gelding and he has been a very successful part of our team for the last three years. Good luck to Sue & Tom and thanks for trusting Gata Rein Ranch for your horse needs.


August 20, 2011 – It was winning weekend for the GRR bunch in Northampton, MA. Jerry got the weekend started by winning the $1000 Open on Leonard Tag with a big score of 149.5. Bryan rode Bonitas Dun Smoke to win the Limited Open class and placed third on Craig Sutter’s Gotham.  On Saturday Craig Sutter rode Steppin Up Wimpy to win the $3000 Non Pro Level 4 & $2000 Non Pro Level 2 derbies with a score of 217.5. They also placed second in the $1000 Non Pro and $500 Intermediate Non Pro class the day before.


July 31, 2011 – Congratulations to Jerry Coleman riding The Great Tag for Denise Santagata. This talent duo marked a 219 to claim the $5000 Open Level 3 Co-Championship and place third in the $10,000 Open Level 4 divisions. Watch for this duo to show in more Derby events this fall.

Bryan Penquite also earned paychecks in the Open Level 1 & 2 aboard Blaze N Hollywood, owned by Natascha Aeuckens.

July 10, 2011 – Congratulations to Mysocksarechocolate, owned by Denise Santagata and shown by Jerry Coleman, for marking a 145.5 at the SERHA Main Event Futurity. This fancy three year old gelding earned the Open Level 4 & Level 3 Futurity reserve championships. It was his first trip to the show pen and both Jerry and Denise were very pleased with his run. Watch for this duo at more futurity events this fall.

July 9, 2011 – Congratulations to Natascha Aeuckens on her purchase of Blaze N Hollywood. This five year old gelding has been a consistent winner for Gata Rein Ranch with Bryan Penquite at the reins. Together they earned the 2010 ABI Limited Open derby championship and returned to Williamston in 2011 to claim the ABI Limited Open derby reserve championship.

Natascha will be showing him in Rookie events and Bryan will continue to show him in the Open divisons.

June 21, 2011 – We are excited about Sue Kuryloski’s success on Wranglerize at the EPRHA show this month. Sue won the Non Pro with a 147.5, which was her personal high score to date, on Saturday and came back to tie for the win on Sunday. Sue purchased Wranglerize from Gata Rein Ranch earlier this year. Congratulations Sue and keep up the good work!
