Bill Bowen has been training Reining horses for almost twenty years now. He grew up in Meriden, Connecticut and developed his passion for horses at an early age. There were a lot of all-around and English horses in the area so these were the disciplines he started with. It wasn’t long before Bill knew that he wanted to make a career out of training horses and helping the people who owned them. After a trip to Gladstone, New Jersey, where he got to see the great Reining sire Gunner compete in a USEF event, Bill was hooked on Reining.
He attended The University of Findlay where he began to focus on a career in the Reining horse industry. Instructors and Staff there helped to guide him to summer Internships and eventually his first job in the industry. He put in the time and moved around the country, taking positions with some of the top trainers in the business, improving his program and learning to show.
For the past eight years he has been training in Ohio, where he had the opportunity to train multiple Congress Champions and Top Ten finishers, NRHA Futurity finalists, NRBC Finalists, and local Affiliate Top Ten finishers. Now he has come back to the Northeast, where it all began, to take the opportunity to train here at Gata Rein Ranch.
We are very excited about the promise that his addition adds to our program. Give us a call today to learn about what Bill and Gata Rein Ranch can do to help you reach your goals with Reining.
Samantha graduated with the class of 2018 at Morrisville State College with her Associates in Equine Science and Management. She has been riding since she was 11, and has participated in many disciplines from hunters, western pleasure and even barrel racing. However, she found a great love for reiners in college, and hopes to peruse a career in the reining industry. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her father and long trail rides with her own horse.
